Peppermint oil - indispensable in your bathroom cabinet
Peppermint has been used for centuries to improve digestion. But that's just one of the many great applications of this herb.
Its high menthol content also has a purifying effect, making it an ideal ingredient in your DIY toothpaste - and of course it gives a great taste!
This property of peppermint also makes it a suitable ingredient for impurities in facial creams and shampoos. Peppermint not only helps to reduce impurities, but it also makes your skin and hair less greasy. The cooling effect of peppermint oil also ensures a fresh and radiant complexion.
After exercise it is also delicious to apply peppermint oil with a few drops to your tired muscles. The peppermint improves the blood circulation and reduces tension.
Usage and tips
Always mix essential oil with a carrier oil, such as olive oil, almond oil or jojoba oil. Use about 1 - 2% essential oil in your products (so 1 - 2 grams of peppermint oil per 100 grams of almond oil for example). Peppermint oil can be quite strong so make sure you dose it well.
Peppermint oil goes well with basil, bergamot, cajeput, cedarwood, eucalyptus, lemon, lime, mandarin, marjoram, niaouli, pine, rosemary and thyme essential oils.
Did you know that? A drop of peppermint oil through your DIY lip balm will make your lips fuller!
